📺 I heard someone recently bemoaning the fact that Netflix tends to end it’s shows, even the critically acclaimed ones, after just 3-4 seasons. The reason is of course entwined with their business model. Shinny new things bring in subscribers more than season 6 of a show.

However, I disagree with the idea that this is also bad for the art of television. I am hard pressed to remember many shows that I felt were better in their 5th season. I think 3 seasons is probably the sweet spot as far as story telling goes. I’d much prefer 10 exciting and original 3 season shows to 5 bloated shows that just keep chruning out episodes derivative of their own past. Am I wrong?
